A look ahead to 2020...
The new year has started. From Tuscany for everyone aunt auguri, best wishes!
A new year, which of course includes making plans and looking ahead. We are looking forward to it!
Although we are still reeling from all the good things from 2019, we are also really focused on 2020.
It starts again to really bubble and flow, ideas pop up and are refined or replaced by even better ideas.
Besides a thorough update of the existing apartments 'Imperio' and 'Rosella', we are working with an architect on the development of two new apartments. We hope to receive the green light from the comune Cortona soon.
The former restaurant has been transformed into a special apartment for 2 people. Very atmospheric!
What are we planning for 2020?
- There is for next year a herb garden on the wish list, oregano, basil, thyme, sage and rosemary we want to plant in the borders along the terraces so everyone can pick what he or she needs. Nothing tastier than fresh herbs -with their full flavors- straight from the garden to use in the holiday kitchen right?
- We also dream of a vegetable garden, delicious red tomatoes and coloured peppers, garlic, onions, pumpkins and even melons. We have found a nice spot, close to the kitchen and full of sun. Because of the wild boars we have to fence it properly, so that's a nice challenge!
- For the little ones we are working on a small playground. Depending on what the comune of Cortona allows we want to realize a slide, swing and climbing frame.
- And then of course chickens, fresh eggs every day, that would be great. You can buy chickens at the market here, that is planned for the spring. Plenty of space!
- Tent spots, we want to create a number of fixed tent spots, which we will level out nicely and provide with picnic tables and shade cloths. So do you feel like coming with your tent? You can! With the tractor we'll bring your camping gear to the tent spot, choosing your own spot is also fine, we have enough space!
In terms of activities, we also have a number of plans,
- Every Monday morning we want to offer the possibility to walk together to Cortona. A beautiful walk through the hills, partly on ancient Roman roads. In Cortona we relax with a Tuscan breakfast, after which we walk back. A walk that lasts 45 to 60 minutes. Really a must! Uphill, back downhill ... Our guests are lyrical about this walk, which often only at the end of the holiday by them is made. We regularly hear, if only I had known this sooner ... Therefore now on Monday morning in the program, a wonderful start to the day and week.
- Every other week on Tuesday we organise a BBQ evening. Eating BBQ together. Our South African friend Jeroen, former chef, taught us last season how to use the wood oven, now he wants to teach us all the tricks of South African barbecuing, doesn't that sound wonderful? We have already thought of a beautiful spot for the barbecue, soon the barbecue will be built with ancient stones from our own estate.
- The other week we organize a pizza night, homemade pizza dough, baked in our own pizza oven. Dine together, glass of wine, so cozy!
- And then we have a very nice idea... since december we also have a very nice traditional olive grove at our disposal, with a really perfect location. Under a 14th century tower, with a view up to 45 km far. Here you can walk in half an hour to. Walk together to this place, 'Pallazone', and have a typical Tuscan lunch. Just at a long table in the middle of the olive grove. La bella vita right?
- Tuscany by Vespa' tour, we have found an organization that rents Vespas. At 10 km from our agriturismo you can rent a Vespa and spend a wonderful day touring the area. Even a tour around Lago Tasimeno is easy to do. We are happy to help you on your way!
